Tumbleweed Introduces New Macro Pannier Rack With Higher Load Rating and More Bag Mounting Options
Boise, ID – Tumbleweed Bicycle Co. is excited to announce its newest rack model, the Macro Pannier Rack, a versatile, user-tested new design with a higher load rating! As Daniel Molloy, Tumbleweed founder, puts it, “We’ve been rack nerds for a long time, and this is our best one yet.”

Responding to Customer Feedback
The Macro Pannier rack comes in response to feedback from some of Tumbleweed’s “Super User” customers over the years. The company’s design philosophy has always been to start with what works and then tweak and iterate the design over time. Customers and Tumbleweed ambassadors have used the brand’s well-loved Pannier rack for 10 years as a mid-duty option—a design that allows for small panniers and drybags strapped to the top platform, offering larger volume and weight capacity than ultralight saddlebags. The Tumbleweed Pannier rack remains a great option that also makes it easier to run a dropper post for bikepacking on technical routes.
Customers began asking for a sturdier rack option that could handle heavier loads and larger panniers for extended expeditions where the terrain is rough and the loadout can be variable. Tumbleweed’s answer is the Macro Pannier rack with an impressive 65 lb total load limit, wider legs, and more bag mounting options.
Field Tested Across the Globe
Tumbleweed staff members and ambassador rider team have been testing prototype variants of the new Macro Pannier rack all over the world for the past 12-18 months throughout the product development process. As with all Tumbleweed products, the Macro Pannier design process relied on iterative changes and real-world testing. Tumbleweed ambassador Ryan Wilson shared his review: “Obviously, it’s as rock solid as all of the other Tumbleweed racks, but the separate rack-top and pannier rails really open up the mounting possibilities!”
