The Stargazer is a nimble and balanced drop bar mountain touring bike designed for loaded trail riding. It's at home on trails, singletrack and gravel roads whether unladen or with racks and bags on an adventure. The Stargazer a direct descendant of Tumbleweed’s first bike model, the Prospector, and shares much of the same tubing and mountain bike geometry, with a shorter reach to accommodate drop handlebars, and a lighter weight overall package. Our standard build combines a 12 speed SRAM Eagle wide range 10-52 tooth cassette and derailleur with SRAM Rival road shifters via a Ratio Technology 1x12 Wide Upgrade Kit, and the left shifter is modified to control actuation of the dropper seatpost.

The Stargazer is built to be a fun, confidence inspiring bike that covers a wide range of terrain and is optimized for bikepacking and off road touring.

The Stargazer features a high-end fully heat treated multi-butted Chromoly steel tubeset with integrated gussets at the headtube, and a CNC machined chainstay yoke with clearance for 29x2.6” or 27.5x3.0” tires.

Complete Bike Purchase Process

We build complete bikes in the order that build specs are finalized. Our standard build with the parts list as shown is $3875  USD, we use this as a starting point for your build, and since we custom assemble each bike from the frame up including hand building all of our wheels, there is a wide range of changes that can be made to our standard spec.

Once you place your complete bike deposit, we put your name on the frame/fork and reach out to start confirming the final spec for your bike. Once we have finalized the build spec, we send over an invoice for the final balance due. Once the final invoice is paid, your build sheet goes into our build queue and we begin ordering any necessary parts for your bike. Our goal is to have your bike completed and ready to ship within 4 weeks from the time you pay your final invoice, although there can sometimes be unforeseen delays if a component is out of stock from the manufacturer, etc.

We build your wheels, completely assemble your bike, test ride it multiple times and double check all adjustments before packing it for shipment. When you receive your bike, we recommend taking it to a professional mechanic for reassembly, it will be very straightforward for a shop to assemble.

How can I run 11 speed SRAM road shifters with a 12 speed SRAM Eagle drivetrain?
A company called Ratio Technologies produces a kit that converts SRAM 11 speed road shifters to work seamlessly with 12 speed mountain derailleurs, we use their kit on our complete builds.
Can I run flat bars on the Stargazer?
Yes, you'll just need to take into account that the frame has a reach that is optimized for drop bars, you'll likely need a long stem to run flat bars.
My flat mount brake adaptors only have the option for 140mm or 160mm, what setting do I use for the Stargazer?
For the rear brake,if you want to run 160mm rotors, mount the caliper directly to the brake mount. Use the 160mm rear brake adaptor to run 180mm rotors. For the front brake, use the 140mm setting on your adaptor for 160mm rotors, and the 160mm setting for 180mm rotors.

Performance and Comfort

The Stargazer blends the drop bar and mountain bike experience and takes the best parts of both. It combines the comfortable riding position of a gravel bike with the tire clearance and gear range of a mountain bike. It is great for people who want a versatile off road bike that can swap 27.5+ and 29” wheels, ride single track or dirt roads and take on bikepacking trips.

Advanced Chromoly Tubeset

Heat treated multi-butted Chromoly steel tubeset makes for a very strong and smooth riding frame. It is triple and quad butted oversized tubing and features internal gussets integrated at the headtube. All of this is done to create a strong frame at a reasonable weight.
